As a vet, I see many patients with arthritis. As a progressive, painful condition, arthritis can significantly compromise a pet’s overall quality of life. Using many different tools, including veterinary acupuncture, I am able to work with my clients and patients to make an Arthritis Management Plan to minimise the effects of arthritis and optimise my patient’s quality of life.

Veterinary acupuncture is a great way to help relieve pain related to arthritis. During an acupuncture treatment session, I carefully place very fine, sterile needles into individually selected acupuncture points. Using a combination of praise and treats, the majority of cats and dogs accept the needles very well. The acupuncture needles stay in for up to 15 minutes, during which time many patients relax and rest.

Stimulation of acupuncture points has many affects within the body:

  • Alleviating pain
  • Improving blood flow
  • Reducing painful inflammation
  • Improving mobility
  • Promoting healing

Veterinary acupuncture is part of a holistic management approach to arthritis. It helps improve my patient’s overall quality of life by:

  • Reducing their pain
  • Reducing their need for anti-inflammatory pain relief medications
  • Reducing their level of painful inflammation associated with arthritis

I have seen many patients lead happier, less painful lives following regular acupuncture treatments. I am very grateful to be able to help my patients lead a less painful, higher quality of life.
